Blue Ridge Wireless Cell Phone Recycling:
As part of our commitment to the environment and in keeping with the principles of the Cell Phone Recycling Act of 2004 (passed in California), Blue Ridge Wireless has a comprehensive recycling system in place. This includes the separate collection and proper disposal/reclamation of:
- phones
- batteries (including Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer)
- broken LCD modules
- loose circuit boards, flex assemblies, and components
- ALL scrap/used/broken housings
We will gladly accept any phone or battery dropped off or sent to us. Our goal is to keep as many cell phones and their parts out of the landfill.
It is important to remember that until recently, the soldered connections on the circuit boards used leaded solder. It is vitally important that this lead content is disposed of properly. Phones also contain zinc and arsenic, two toxic chemicals that are known to pose severe health hazards. Keeping these materials out of landfills is critical.
Additionally, the gold colored contacts seen throughout the board ARE actually made with real gold. While the monetary value is very small, the more precious metals recovered and recycle means less mining and reduce costs associated with new phones.
